'Healthy' cold treats for wicked warm days...

With temperatures nearing 80 yesterday and the humidity higher than one might like for April, it's appropriate to say that cold dessert season is upon us. Here are a few vegan-friendly suggestions for you yogis with a sweet tooth. Feel free to comment with more ideas!

Mint Chip Smoothie, Organic Avenue. It's raw, organic, vegan, and delicious. Seriously delicious.... delicious like pint of Ben & Jerry's Mint Chocolate Cookie delicious. They also have plenty of other deliciousness to choose from, including a raw chia-seed pudding... but that's another story entirely. Locations.

Coconut based Creamsicle Ice Cream, Stogo. It's soy free, reminiscent of childhood, orangey perfection. They also have other vegan goodies, and a bench outside to people watch while you enjoy the awesomeness. And you can hop over to 11th and 2nd (Stogo is on 10th, at 159 2nd Ave) afterwards and grab a green juice from Liquiteria.

Oreo Cookie Ice Cream, One Lucky Duck. Yummy, raw, fun to eat a pint outside on a sunny day with friends. (125 East 17th Street, Between Irving and 3rd).

Cookie Dough Coconut based Ice cream, Turtle Mountain. No need to trek far for this one... just head to the nearest health-food store and there you go. They also have soy products, and dairy free milks and yogurts.

Vanilla Donut with frosting and sprinkles, Cowgirls Baking. Now, this isn't cold, but it's best to eat it on a warm day because it's pretty much the most amazing dessert ever created and one could end up eating more than one... so it's nice to have a warm day to walk it off. They are vegan, with a  consistency like heaven... And it's always nice to support the new kid on the block (they just opened a couple of months ago... 259 East 10th Street, between 1st and A).

Enjoy!

Thank you.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who came out this weekend to help us fix-up Dharma East. There was a whole lot of painting, cleaning, music, eating, and love... and it's looking much brighter over here... so thank you all... we love you!
